Share your tips and make money

As a way to reward you for contributing to TipsBase, we have set up a simple system that allows you to get paid for publishing your tips, advice and HOWTOs. Here is how it works:

We use Google AdSense to automatically serve relevant ads on our pages. Google pays AdSense publishers on a per click basis. If you have an AdSense account, just provide us with your AdSense ID and you will receive 100% of the revenue generated from two out of the three Google ads shown on all your tips, including those you posted before associating your AdSense ID. If you don’t have an AdSense account, you can easily apply for one (it’s free and you don’t need to have a website if you are a TipsBase member).

Open a Google AdSense account

Follow this link: Google Adsense Sign Up.
In the 'Website URL' field of the Google AdSense application form, add the URL of your TipsBase profile. You can do this by clicking on 'My Profile' (on the TipsBase main menu), then click the Profile URL link that appears on the left section of your profile and copy the URL from your address bar. The URL should look like this: http://www.tipsbase.com/profile/YourUserName
Select ‘English’ as the website language and fill out your personal data.

Associate your AdSense Publisher ID with your TipsBase account

After your Google AdSense account has been approved or if you already had one, you can provide us with your AdSense publisher ID and once it is associated with your TipsBase account, two out of the three Google ad units displayed on the pages of your tips will have your AdSense publisher ID on them (using multiple publishers' ad code on the same page is allowed by Google AdSense. ) therefore the earnings generated by these ads will be directly credited into your Google AdSense account and you will be paid by Google. You can confirm that the ads shown on your tips contain your AdSense ID by viewing the HTML source code. In order to associate your AdSense publisher ID with your TipsBase account, please do the following:

On the TipsBase main menu click on ‘My Profile’
Click on the ‘Associate your Google AdSense ID’ link that is located on the left section of your profile page.
Type your Google AdSense publisher ID (usually starts with ‘pub-’ and then has a series of numbers) and click ‘update’. You should see a message indicating that your AdSense ID was successfully associated with your TipsBase account.

Track the performance of your ads

To track the performance of your ads on TipsBase, you can open a URL channel in your Google AdSense account by following these steps:

Click the 'AdSense Setup' tab on the main menu of your AdSense account.
Click on ‘Channels’ in the sub-menu
Click on the ‘URL channels’ link.
Click on ‘+ Add new URL channels’
Type ‘tipsbase.com’ on the field that says ‘Enter URLs to track, one per line’ and then click the ‘Add channels’ button.

Maximize your earnings

The most important thing you can do to maximize your earnings is to attract traffic to your tips.

A significant amount of traffic comes to TipsBase through search engines (mainly from Google) and something you can do to make people find your tips through Google is to make the titles of your tips descriptive and keyword-rich.

Another key factor to increase the traffic to your tips is to make use of social media sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, delicious, etc. Note that we have a ‘share’ button on every tip, we recommend you to use this tool to easily submit your tips to different social media sites.
